Battlefield 1 is a great game,
I am new to this type of first person shooter, the learning curve is quite steep but I found the campaigns a great way to learn the ropes before heading off into the world wide web to test my skills in the multiplayer arena.
The single player campaigns are designed to give you experience in all of the online arena's, using a good array of weapons and tools.
You will get experience driving a tank, piloting a biplane, riding a horse, attacking from and using a horse as a weapon. I found the tank section very interesting. One of the campaigns even has you sending messages using carrier pigeon.
After several weeks of learning the tricks of the trade in the campaigns and thinking I was getting quite good at killing in the game I went out into the virtual world to try my hand at the online multiplayer games.
I quickly found I am not as good as I thought.
The online games allow you to choose which side you want to fight for, The... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Battlefield yet, 24 April 2017

Probably the best Battlefield game ever made. The historic setting adds to the atmosphere and challenges, with slow loading rifles and more vulnerable vehicles.

The single player campaign is reasonably short, but covers 5 distinct settings across the World War 1 theatre, and there's enough characterisation to make you feel it when you make a mistake and someone dies. It's reasonably respectful in the tone and handling of a war which affected the world in such a large way, although it's obviously a Hollywood approach rather than a documentary.

Multiplayer is as good as always in a Battlefield game. It has slightly less of the familiar clunkiness in setting up lobbies and finding matches, although it can still launch you into the new, longer Operations modes just as a match is ending.

But in general, it's the best Battlefield to date, and more engaging than most shooters. Plus it might inspire some gamers to learn a bit more about the real world events... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice try but no cigar., 17 Jun. 2017

Graphically stunning but what promised to be a worthwhile successor to the amazing battlefield 4 sadly isn't. Whether it be EA or Origins doing, they have messed with the online multiplayer hardcore mode which is totally different to the hardcore mode on BF4. Half the time you don't know who you have shot (as you have no name tag or colour above the player) and spend most of the game getting shot by your own team mates as they don't know if your friend or foe either. Some gamers prefer this as it is technically PURE hardcore mode but to be honest, they should of kept the rules and dynamics the same as BF4 and let individual servers select appropriate options, as that is what most people were expecting. I know i was. Unfortunately, this has been sat on the shelf since i bought it and BF4 still gets hammered instead, which by the way is a far superior game all round.
