4.0 out of 5 stars The complete collection – or a ticket to Year 3 for veterans, 30 April 2017

This game ate up my time like no other over the last few years. The story has been expanded and improved on with expansion missions and areas since it came out – provided you pay for the DLC of course – and the overall experience has definitely improved in my opinion. There are solid cooperative and PVP modes and plenty of tasks and rewards for single play. The game still relies heavily on grinding once the story based missions are over, but Bungie have come up with more and more ways for you to get rewards for doing so.

I have to say that Year 2 of Destiny was the best for me – the Taken King expansion introduced the Dreadnaught area, new enemies and made patrolling a lot more fun. In my opinion it saved the franchise for me, and I will be buying Destiny 2 off the back of it. I'd heard indifferent reviews from friends about Year 3's Rise of Iron and only recently decided to come back to Destiny and play it. Unfortunately, after The Taken King, it was an anticlimax for me... Read more

One of the best games on the Xbox One.
This edition really heaps on content, content that was very much lacking from the initial release.
Great solo play and brilliant team play.
Must have for any Xbox One owner.

3.0 out of 5 stars A repetitive game with not much story and ends up boring quite quickly, 20 April 2018

I didn't buy this game when it first came out, but after playing Destiny 2 with a friend I thought I'd give the original a try...being slightly disappointed with the second one, I wasn't expecting great things from the first, but it was CHEAP!

Gameplay is pretty repetitive, the story is bland as hell, and the progression is "get stronger weapons in the limited types" and "get stronger armour", with enemies being of a limited list... with the mission types generally being of the "go here and kill everything", rinse, repeat, go to a new area, do the same thing over and over... you can join up with others, but to be honest it doesn't really make any difference (from my experience).

If you want a comparison, think of Borderlands without the personality or variety of weapons and much blander, but the public areas are populated by random players, with slow loading times, and very samey missions!

BTW, this is better than Destiny 2,... Read more
