Meet the 'Keeper of Lost Things'...
Once a celebrated author of short stories now in his twilight years, Anthony Peardew has spent half his life collecting lost objects, trying to atone for a promise broken many years before.

Realising he is running out of time, he leaves his house and all its lost treasures to his assistant Laura, the one person he can trust to fulfil his legacy and reunite the thousands of objects with their rightful owners.

But the final wishes of the 'Keeper of Lost Things' have unforeseen repercussions which trigger a most serendipitous series of encounters...

'The first book I read in 2017 - and if another as good comes along in the next 12 months, I'll eat my special gold reviewing spectacles' Daily Mail

3.5 stars

This was a good, distracting read, the kind of book that takes you away from the world for a while, and doesn't make you think too hard, which is exactly what I wanted. It's a really interesting premise, and I liked both Laura and Sunshine a lot. It was witty, it had a touch of pathos and a real touch of sadness in the back story, but also a nice touch of romance in the front story. Nothing too deep, and at times, especially towards the end, I did find myself popping out of the world and thinking, that's way too much of a coincidence. And I did feel the end was very rushed. But on the whole - yes, I enjoyed it. And yes, I'd definitely read the next one by this author.

I really wanted to like this book, I enjoyed the first few chapters but then got bored. Put the book down for a few days, gave it some more reading and then I had to finish it to understand the ending. It started off lovely. It was well written and but not captivating enough for me. The characters didn't seem real enough, I didn't feel they're connection. Read this if you're on the tube and do not wish to make eye-contact with other passengers.

What a wonderful, beautifully written story! I thoroughly enjoyed, and became engrossed in each of the characters who at points had me laughing out loud and the next moment, tearing up. An absolute must read! I love days in the sun with a good book and this was one of those days!
